Today I did something pretty out of character for me. I packed up the kids and drove them an hour away to the beach.
We met my mother-in-law and one of my sisters-in-law and three cousins.
The kids said this was the best day ever.
I'll definitely be doing this again.
And hopefully, I'll get to do a little more knitting than this!

sounds like a wonderful excursion to me! I think I'd be doing that a whole lot during the summer. How wonderful to live an hour away from the beach.
An hour! That's it! We live smack dab in the middle of the USA...no beach in site! If I lived that close I would be there constantly!
An hour?? How blessed you are! I love it when I hear- "this was the best day!"
Just a little spontaneous fun! Nothing wrong with that -- and it turned into "the best day!" Sounds like a good memory.
