This block required a lot of planning. I wanted to fit the embroidered sheep in with the letter--not the easiest task.
One of the things I learned about myself during this year of making quilt blocks for other people is that I'm more of a wing-it type instead of a meticulously-plan-and-sketch-and-calculate-all-the-measurements-including-the-seam-allowances type.
I'm pleased with how it turned out, so I guess all that planning and calculating does pay off!

wow! great work! love that you included the lamb. :)
isn't if fun creating for others?
Wow! That's fantastic! And what a neat idea your friend had. I bet her daughter will have lots of fun finding all the s-words in your block.

That is so cool! I wish you lived closer (for a lot of reasons!) but one of which is to coach me in my remedial sewing skills!!
Your letter S looks fantastic! There's no doubt the recipient will be thrilled. I too am the wing-it type because I don't find all the planning relaxing - chain piecing squares or triangles for an hour, on the other hand, is very relaxing.
I just read the comment you left on my blog about knitting a spring sweater in Jan. well today i randomly cast on for the textured circle shrug from glamknits. it's totally spring-y but I was running out the door and I forgot to wind my wool so I grabbed some cascade 220 and cast on. If you'd like to knit if with me and you don't have the book it recently became a free pattern on ravelry check it out - very flattering. Maybe we won't look so ridiculous if we're both knitting shrugs in Jan.
that looks wonderful. what a neat idea for a quilt. you did a fabulous job combining the pictures and the letter.
